Duddenhoe End Village Hall - Elvis seen at the Village Hall 80th Anniversary Party

Saturday 19 November saw Duddenhoe End Village Hall celebrate the 80th anniversary of its opening.

More than 70 guests, including past and present residents of Duddenhoe End and its surrounding hamlets, donned their glad rags to indulge in a touch of nostalgia. Many really entered into the spirit by coming attired in a period costume that reflected one of the eight decades that the hall has witnessed. Even Elvis came along!

Images of times gone by, kindly donated by Viv Applin (daughter of long term Bridge Green resident, Olive Harvey who published a series of books on the history of Duddenhoe End) were shown on a rolling slideshow, and reproductions of historical newspaper cuttings and photographs of bygone hall events were read with nostalgia and fond memories.

The evening rocked and rolled to live music from jazz band, the Rob James Trio. Starting with hits from the 1930's, it was not too long before the hall's floorboards vibrated to some enthusiastic dancing.

A great time was had by all, and we all look forward to another 80 years of life in Duddenhoe End Village Hll

Wow!! What a fantastic evening!!!

We had such a great time, thank you all sooo much for all your hard work in putting together such a memorable night. John is really fed up that he missed it. I have never seen the village hall looking so good and it was just lovely to see so many local people getting together and enjoying themselves. All thanks to your efforts. Well done and a BIG THANK YOU.

Much love and thanks to all.

I'd like to thank all of the committee and helpers for putting on a fabulous evening for the hall's 80th birthday.

I don't remember the hall ever looking so good - the subtle lighting was a great idea, the band was great, the whole atmosphere was fun and what a great turnout.

Also well done for all the fundraising to restore the hall. Thanks again from us all,

Diana, Brian and Emily (Schwieger)
