 Up and down they glided along the catwalk displaying
outfits for all events, both casual and formal, at Duddenhoe End's Fashion Show
on May 18th. About 50 people attended the event,
held in the Village
Hall, and takings amounted to £627.
Nominal expenses will have to be deducted from that splendid sum and the profit
of several hundred pounds will help to pay for essential maintenance work to both
the exterior and interior of the hall.
 On arrival people were served with canapes kindly supplied by the Pheasant Public
House in Great Chishill, Charlotte Tuke, Pauline Collins, Jennifer Clifton and Eileen
Davies. Our grateful thanks to all five of them.
The fashions, ranging from day wear to elegant evening wear for both men and women,
were provided by two Saffron Walden retailers,
Evelyn Charles of Hill Street and Gray Palmer of High Street.
Models for the former were Lizzy and Josephine Fetzer and
Jane Knight while those for the latter were two locals, Ray of Wendens Ambo and
James Davies. Formerly of Wenden Lofts, James and his partner, Maggie, recently
moved to Great Chishill.
Floral arrangements were provided at a reduced rate by Fred Whyman of Clavering
and auctioned at the end of the show by Shaun Fetzer.
The winners in the free prize
draw of a complete colour, cut and finish, worth £100 and donated by The Salon of
Saffron Walden, were Aileen Duthie and Margaret Watson, both of Duddenhoe End.
The
Village Hall Committee would like to thank all those who supported the event and
all those who made it a possibility and such an enjoyable evening.
